University of Huddersfield - Sparck Jones Chimney Repairs

The work involves: repair work to the redundant mill chimney located on Firth Street , Huddersfield comprising: Raking out all mortar joints to a depth of 25mm or 2.5 x the joint width, whichever is greater. Removing all dust. Packing the joint with an agreed lime mortar, flush pointed and lightly brushed. Removing all vegetation, plants, trees, moss and algae growing on the chimney. Defrass all loose, flaking or delaminating stonework. Replace missing stone blocks. Repaint the metal restraining bands. Repaint the metal chimney cap.
